Tottenham Hotspur suffered a third straight defeat in all competition on Sunday afternoon, putting their chances of qualifying for the Champions League at serious risk.
Jose Mourinho’s side were beaten by Wolves in a five-goal thriller after Raul Jimenez’s slotted finish in the 73rd minute sealed all three points for the visitors.
And Spurs fans have been gunning for young centre-back Japhet Tangana as they believe he had a big part to play in their downfall.
The academy graduate was selected alongside Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez in defence at the expense of Belgian duo Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
Here’s what has been said…
One supporter questioned Tanganga’s display and claimed that no one will criticise him because he’s young and English whilst others blasted him for being “really poor” and having a “stinker”.
There were also more general reactions to the 20-year-old but they were far from glowing either.
He was described as being “shocking” as well “abysmal.”

Tanganga picked up the second lowest rating of any starter in the match as per SofaScore, who also state that he was dribbled past three times, committed two fouls and won just 50% of his duels both on the ground and aerially.
This has led to some claiming that the centre-back had a “right mare” and that his showing was a “disasterclass.”
Others were left debating the impact of players around him – one suggested that Tanganga was better than Ben Davies at left-back whilst another believed Dier had a better game at the back.
He was even lambasted for being “out of his depth” against Wolves’ lethal frontline.
