Sheffield Wednesday’s disastrous league form continued at the weekend as the Owls suffered a seventh defeat from ten matches.
Garry Monk’s side were beaten 3-0 by Reading at Hillsborough, sinking the south Yorkshire outfit to nine points from even being remotely near the playoff picture.
They have now won just once in that run, which was summed up by Sheffield Star reporter Dom Howson on his final matchday covering the team.
This tweet has caused meltdown amongst sections of the Owls faithful as they all responded with an array of criticism – from blaming the manager to seemingly being consigned to relegation.
Here’s what has been said…
Some were of the belief that Monk had lost the dressing room with the 40-year-old being labelled a “fraud” as well as having no clue.
A couple of others were firmly in the #MonkOut camp as the situation was “completely unacceptable” according to one fan.

While a further member of the Hillsborough faithful refuted chances of Monk being sacked as he put the blame on chairman Dejphon Chansiri as he hasn’t got a clue.
It has led to calls that the Owls are quickly heading towards League One in the form of relegation – one supporter even made a joke out of the uncertainty facing the club as they face a potential 21-point deduction from the EFL following an investigation into the sale of their ground to Chansiri himself.
And then finally, there were more general reactions, all of which only emphasised the meltdown – “Crisis,” “embarrassing and “freefall” were just three words of choice over the current predicament.
One supporter went as far as claiming that the south Yorkshiremen needed a complete overhaul from chairman right down to the players.
What could’ve been… Can you name the clubs these football legends almost joined?
And in other news, Wednesday have been rueing from Garry Monk’s BIGGEST mistake as Owls boss…
