Leeds United defender Luke Ayling is due to spend the next two months on the sidelines with the knee problem that he picked up against Nottingham Forest.
The extent of Ayling’s injury was revealed earlier this week, and the 27-year-old has now taken to social media after the problem was diagnosed.
Ayling is unlikely to play again in 2018, but should be fit to return in the early stages of 2019.
The 6ft 1in defender had started the season impressively for the Whites, scoring once in 14 Championship appearances.
The news was a huge blow to both the player and the club, but Ayling has revealed that he will be ‘working hard to return as soon as possible’.
In response to Ayling’s tweet, the Leeds fans were on social media paying tribute to the Englishman, and indeed wishing him all the best in his recovery.
The show must go on, however, and Leeds are currently preparing for Sunday’s trip to Wigan Athletic in the Championship.
