Leeds fans are concerned about the future of Pontus Jansson after the Swedish defender spoke about the side’s torrid run of form, but said he expects to be at the club next year.
When Jansson joined from Torino on loan in 2016, Leeds fans were starting to believe they had their stalwart centre back to guide them back to the Premier League.
Fast forward nearly two years, and the consensus on the Swede is much different, as his exceptional performances are littered far too sparsely in and amongst some absolute shockers.
Jansson is one of several players at the club that seems to hide when the going gets tough, something that does not resonate well with fans at Elland Road, but the 27 year-old insists he has no problem taking responsibility.
“It’s difficult to say and point out what’s gone wrong. For me there’s a lot of things but the players on the pitch have to take responsibility for it,” Jansson said.
The season has completely capitulated since Christmas, and some of the recent performances have asked questions of the players’ commitment. The big Swede says he will give his all for the rest of the season though.
“My only thing now is building my confidence and my form and to be in good shape when I go to the camp before the World Cup.
“It’s not like I am going out on the pitch and trying not to get injured. That’s not how I am. I go 100 per cent into every game.”
