The 22-year-old brought his team back into the derby as he earned a penalty which Bruno Fernandes converted in the 88th minute to cancel out Josko Gvardiol's first-half goal. Amad then scored the winning goal three minutes later as he produced a stunning piece of control inside the Manchester City box before finishing past Ederson.

United skipper Fernandes was understandably jubilant after the club's first win at Etihad Stadium since 2021 as he heaped praise on his young team-mate for his energy and liveliness on the ground. This was the 22-year-old's first goal in the Manchester derby and fourth overall in the 2024/25 campaign.

Speaking to reporters, the Portuguese midfielder said: "He has been doing well, he has been doing great things and there is still a lot to come from him. He showed again today he is always alive. That is why he gets the penalty, and why he gets the goal. He has been brilliant. When he is like this he is unstoppable."
