Vieira joined Arsenal from Porto just over 18 months ago for a fee that could rise to nearly £35 million but he has failed to live up to that hefty price tag thus far. With the Gunners being one of many teams trying not to fall afoul of the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules, getting the Portuguese international off the books may come into their consideration.

Vieira's contract at the Emirates expires in the summer of 2027 after signing on a five-year deal initially. So far, the attacking midfielder, who has scored 14 goals in 25 caps for his country, has made 46 appearances for the Gunners, scoring three goals and bagging 10 assists in the process.
WHAT NEXT?
Ex-Porto star Vieira, who has been out with a groin issue in recent weeks, will hope to get some much-needed game time for Arsenal soon, with Gunners manager Mikel Arteta saying he is likely to return to action in February. That is, provided he doesn't leave beforehand.
