After a collision with Kostas Tsimikas that ended with the Liverpool left-back suffering a broken collarbone, Bukayo Saka has issued an apology.

With a 1-1 draw against their championship rivals on Saturday, the Gunners made sure they celebrated Christmas at the top of the Premier League standings. Mohamed Salah cancelled out Gabriel Magalhaes' early header to split the points. After a 50/50 duel, the England international shoved Tsimikas off the ground and into Jurgen Klopp on the touchline. The Liverpool manager took off before Tsimikas remained off the pitch. The Greek full-back was taken to hospital right away and it has been confirmed that he suffered from a broken collarbone.

Speaking after the Merseyside thriller, Saka apologised for the incident, he said [via Football.London]: "I heard he has gone to hospital so obviously I want to apologise to him. I didn't mean it of course.

"For me, it was a 50/50 and I have gone shoulder to shoulder with him. I didn't see it but he must have taken a bad fall, I didn't see him go into Jurgen Klopp either. I was focused on running forward because I didn't think it was a foul. That's my take on it."

The injury means Liverpool will now have to contend with the festive period clashes and the New Year clashes without a natural left-back. Andy Robertson, who is generally Klopp's starter at left-back, is also out injured and isn't expected to return to action at least until the start of the new year.

The Anfield outfit will now look forward to their Boxing Day clash on December 26 against Burnley, while Arsenal will have some more time to rest as they take on West Ham on Thursday, December 28.
