PSV made headlines when Peter Bosz announced Ricardo Pepi would get a rare start in the Champions League against Premier League-leading Liverpool on Wednesday. The American striker did not disappoint.
Pepi, 22, assisted PSV's Johan Bakayoko for the club's opening goal, a 35th-minute equalizer after Liverpool scored the first goal of the match on a penalty by Cody Gakpo in the 28th minute. Pepi would add a goal just seconds before the halftime break, scoring on a flick to put the team ahead 3-2.

Pepi continues to build on an impressive breakout campaign in his second season at the club. When he plays extended minutes, he tends to score and he's second in Eredivisie scoring 11 goals despite making just five starts. It should be noted Arne Slot decided to play his B squad in this encounter, but it shouldn't take away from Pepi's overall performance.
Pepi's rise has seen him linked with a move abroad, but PSV insist he's going nowhere.
