FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024 will be a continuation of the annually-held FIFA Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe will have mixed emotions as he returns to Qatar, the stage that witnessed his heartbreak at the 2022 World Cup.
Mbappe had led France to the final two years back in Doha where they took on Argentina on the same date as when the Intercontinental Cup final is scheduled.
He scored a marvellous hattrick in the final to drag France level and extend the game into a penalty shootout. But Argentina went on to win the World Cup after winnning the shootout 4-2.
The France superstar will hope to win the Intercontinental Cup this time around and erase at least a few of the painful memories from that night.
