Chelsea beat Brighton 4-2Sanchez's mistakes led to both goalsMaresca kept his keeper's backFollow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?
It was a horror start for Chelsea as Brighton took just seven minutes to take the lead through Georgino Rutter after Sanchez came off his line and failed to secure an aerial ball. Cole Palmer stepped up and appeared to put the team back on track after completing his hat-trick in less than 10 minutes. However, a poor pass from the goalkeeper was intercepted by Carlos Baleba, who capitalised on the mistake and handed Brighton a chance to fight back.

Despite the mishaps, Palmer quickly restored calm as he netted the fourth, after being set up by Jadon Sancho, to put the game out of Brighton’s reach. Sanchez's errors appeared to stem from a risky, possession-based approach, which occasionally leads to such slip-ups, but Maresca insisted that the mistakes were an inevitable part of their approach and such incidents won't force him to change their style.
WHAT MARESCA SAID
"The two goals we conceded, the first one is a mistake, a normal mistake," Maresca told reporters.
"The second one is not about trying to play from behind. For me, it's more about reading the moment. We were 1-0 down and then 3-1 up, in that moment we don't need to take any risks. It's more for them to take risks, not us. I said to Robert [Sanchez] and the players, 'from now on, we are going to concede 10 more goals like the way we conceded the second goal'. It's the way we want to play.
"We already scored goals with Robert involved in the build-up but it is important after the mistake, the team continue in the same way. It means they enjoy, they like and they see also that we win games."
